Kalo Promotes Shamirah Langford to Senior in BVI Office
Shamirah Langford has been promoted to Senior Administrator in Kalo’s British Virgin Islands (BVI) office.
Shamirah joined Kalo directly after leaving university in the UK in 2017, where she was studying Accounting and Finance at the Manchester Metropolitan University. She joined Kalo as an Administrator and Kalo has supported her studies towards the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.
Three years on and Shamirah is sitting her final ACCA exam in December 2020. She has studied and worked full time throughout this period, as a key part of the Kalo team on numerous significant BVI restructuring and insolvency matters.
Shamirah commented on her promotion: “I am looking forward to the increased responsibilities that the new role will bring. In particular, getting involved in the training and development of new joiners. Also doing more marketing and networking and having the chance to meet other experienced professionals from around the world.”
“I have been so lucky to be part of such a supportive team for the past three years at Kalo. Being at Kalo is like being part of a family. Help and support is always available when you need it, and the management team have been so encouraging of my education and development and given me the opportunities I needed to grow.”
Paul Pretlove, managing director of Kalo in the BVI, said: “Over the past three years Shamirah has faced many challenges - not least of which being a devastating hurricane only two days after she joined us. Despite all the disruption that Shamirah faced, she has proved herself to be a highly valued colleague who has shown strength, resilience and commitment to Kalo and her colleagues. Shamirah’s promotion is testament to her success and achievements since joining Kalo and we look forward to seeing her continue to flourish and grow.”
